Missoula Woman Attacked by Moose on Blue Mountain Trail

A woman who was walking several dogs was kicked by a female moose with a calf. This happened on a Blue Mountain Road trail. One of those unfortunate events where instincts kicked in for moose and dogs alike. The dogs started barking and going toward the moose. The woman tried to get the dogs away and obviously got too close when the moose knocked her down and kicked her. FWP officials say the moose was protecting her calf and they won't take any action against the animals, who were unharmed. The woman was taken out on a stretcher and reportedly is going to be okay. Guess it's one more example why it's a good idea to keep your furry friends leashed. DB
