"Black Friday", "Small Business Saturday", "Cyber Monday", shopping season has begun. There is a very important day among all of the shopping days and that is "Giving Tuesday". This is where you can make yourself feel good by giving back to your community. There are so many non-profits in Missoula that can use your help this time of year and there are so many ways that you can help. The list of charities we have available in our area is much too long to list in this article. We have hundreds of charities in Western Montana.

Donations

It is easier to be able to make direct donations to charities with the use of websites to donate directly to a charity online. If you would like a tax deduction for your donations make sure that the charity that you are donating to has a 501(c)(3) status and get their tax code for your tax preparation.

Time

You don't always have to donate money. You can also donate your time. So many organizations can use volunteers to help this time of year. You can volunteer at food banks, homeless shelters, the library, local schools, animal shelters, and more. Helping out the community directly is another way to see first hand what your help can do for our friends and neighbors.

Get The Word Out

You can use various social media platforms to get the word out about local charities and the help that they need, you can use the hash tag #givingtuesday. Getting the word out can help and is a simple but helpful thing to do. So this year when you are thinking about all of the people on your shopping list, maybe take a moment to think about all the ways you can help our community.
