Missoula Crime Report: Violence, Thefts, and High-Speed Chases This Week
The Missoula County Attorney’s Office charged 20 new felony criminal complaints this week. There were eight cases that involved some form of violence. Four of those cases were interpersonal violence and the other four didn’t involve a partner or a family member. County Attorney Kirsten Pabst explains.
“Those included an assault on a peace officer, a robbery, assault with a weapon after a disturbance at a bar, and a simple assault,” Pabst said. “In the endangerment category we had seven new cases. Five of those cases involved high-speed chases. One of those cases involved a pretty significant accident where the defendant allegedly had alcohol on board and three kids in the car. There was another chase that involved leading officers all the way from Missoula to Polson.”
In the property crimes category, Pabst said her office filed five new cases.
“Two of those involved stolen trucks,” Pabst said. “Those trucks were newer and very expensive. There was a boat, trailer, scooter, and two wave runners allegedly stolen in those cases combined. We charged a burglary and a criminal mischief. In the administrative category, we charged one failure to register. This was the surprise to me, no new drug cases this week.”
However, Pabst said most of the cases this week were related to drugs and many of them were related to methamphetamine.
