I think we did it as a class project when I was in elementary school - writing a group of letters that were then delivered to a local nursing home to raise the spirits of the elderly that didn't have much in the way of visits or social interaction. Fast forward to now and I still love to read stories about people offering up their time to make cards for others. It doesn't matter if they're turning 7 and don't have many friends.....or turning 97 and don't have any family - it's always great to see everyone step up, make a card, and provide joy for someone they don't even know. And you can't help but love to see the reactions in some of those viral stories when someone is totally surprised with hundreds of cards.

The pandemic has made for tougher restrictions at assisted living locations. That makes card giving such a cool thing as residents haven't been able to spend as much time with outside visitors in the last year. Caring Transitions of Western Montana has introduced their JOY4Seniors program. They encourage handmade cards that can be collected and delivered to various recipients.

This month has a St. Patrick's Day theme for cards that will be delivered to The Village Senior Residence. The Village has 93 people that are residents there - and that feels like a number that is very easy to cover as word about the program continues to get out.

If you want to get on board and help spread some good vibes - you can mail a St. Patrick's Day card by March 15th. Mail to:

Just think of all the karma points you'll be getting from the universe when you do something to help brighten another person's day.
