It's that time of year again! The Oscars are back around to celebrate the past year in films and award some winners. For movie geeks like me, this is basically the Super Bowl.

And this year is a weird one! As far as the acting awards go, the winners all seem pretty locked in if you've been following awards season over the last few weeks. If there is an upset, I think it would happen in Best Actress - because even though Renee Zellweger has won a billion awards for Judy, I'm still not convinced that a ton of people have actually seen Judy. She's still my pick to win, but I could see Scarlett Johansson for Marriage Story sneaking in there to take it.

Do these nominees and predictions that I'm making reflect my personal favorites? Not necessarily (My top 3 movies of the year are Once Upon a Time in HollywoodParasite, and The Irishman, which are all nominated - but then I would likely swap out the rest of the nominees for Best Picture with other films). I'm just trying to get into the head of the Academy and try to figure out how they're going to vote when the Oscars air this Sunday, February 9th.

Best Picture is actually the biggest question mark for me - my head says 1917 will win, but my heart sees the growing support for Parasite over the last few weeks and I'm thinking it has a chance to be the first-ever foreign language film to win Best Picture (it's also a way better movie, but that's besides the point).

So I'm thinking we're going to see a split between Best Picture and Best Director - Picture goes to Parasite and Director goes to Sam Mendes for 1917, thereby honoring both films. Here's what I'm thinking for the rest of the ceremony, too (not including the short film categories, because I haven't seen any of them):
