Justin Moore sees them every time he sings his current single, "The Ones That Didn’t Make It Back Home." From the stage, he can't help but notice the people who grow emotional over song's lyrics, and the hugs that are shared between loved ones as the chorus rings out.

And it hits him, too — every single time.

“I truly feel like this song shows how powerful country music can be,” Moore tells Taste of Country in a recent interview. “I have a feeling its going to turn out to be more than just a hit song. This one will stick with people for a long time to come.”

5 Unforgettable Country Military Moments

This Memorial Day weekend, Moore will belt out the song at various events around the country, including the PBS Memorial Day Special on Sunday (May 26) and at the National Armed Forces Memorial Day Parade on Monday (May 27).

“My hope is that somebody will hear this song for the first time over this special weekend and it will help them cope with whatever they might be going through,” says Moore. “It’s a huge honor for me to showcase this song at events such as this. It’s really special.”

Memorial Day has always been special in the Moore house, especially considering that the Arkansas native had two grandfathers who served in the military.

“Since I was little, it was always instilled in me the importance of Memorial Day and the respect we should have for it,” he says. “My kids are so young so it can be difficult to explain what Memorial Day is all about, but those days are definitely coming.”

Moore's new album,  Late Nights And Longnecks, is set for release July 26.
