When you're talking about healthy eating options McDonald's probably isn't the first place that comes to mind. Mickey D's is a great spot to grab lunch when you didn't pack one for the day. It's perfect for when kids are in tow and you need that emergency dinner plan. And it's always a pitstop option on road trips because there seems to be a sign for one at every exit you pass. Yep, there are a bunch of scenarios when grabbing a bite at Mcdonald's is ideal. And if McDonald's has it their way, a KPAX article has details about how you could be thinking of the golden arches in the future when you want a hamburger but don't really want a hamburger. If successful, it could all be a big boost for Montana.

McDonald's is getting ready to test their McPlant burger next month

The meatless burger is already sold in several other countries but now they'll introduce it to select U.S. markets to get a feel about how well it would work if it was to become a permanent menu item. Even if it doesn't sound appealing to you, we have an extra reason to root for its success in Montana. Did you know Montana is one of the top pea producers in the United States? And guess what one of the main ingredients in the McPlant burger is? Bingo, it's peas! (The other two main ingredients are rice and potatoes.) So if the meatless burger option becomes a McSuccess it means good things for Montana pea producers!

Is that even a real thing?

I already quizzed you about Montana being one of the top pea producers in the U.S. Well here's another "did you know" piece of info for your day. Are you aware that there's such a thing as the USA Dry Pea and Lentil Council? Well, there is. Doesn't that just sound like an organization that's full of excitement! I can only imagine how crazy those monthly meetings must get! But seriously, the council is excited that the announcement from McDonald's could be a huge positive for Montana growers. And we'll always take good news when it comes to something like that!

Are you down to try the McPlant burger if it comes to our area? Do you think it will be a success and eventually become a regular item on the menu? Are you going to do a Google search to see if the USA Dry Pea and Lentil Council is a real thing?
