Mark Zuckerberg Gives $1M Grant to Missoula Nonprofit
This is pretty cool. A local nonprofit organization called MoFi just won a $1 million grant from Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, along with his wife, Dr. Priscilla Chan, and the Rockefeller Foundation. The grant is called the Communities Thrive Challenge, and MoFi is one of ten recipients of the grant, out of more than 2000 entries throughout the country.
MoFi helps the poorest people in communities, who have difficulty finding employment because of their low-income status - it's tough to land a job if you can't, for example, afford decent clothes for the interview. MoFi plans to use the grant to hire specialists that will help business to hire low-income workers throughout the Northern Rockies.
Sounds like a great cause, and good on Zuckerberg and company for recognizing the value of communities like Missoula.
