“He was identified as 30-year-old Daniel Blackwell,” Welsh said. “The complainant reported that arguments began between the two the previous evening and that alcohol was involved. At about 2:00 a.m., Blackwell had come into the bedroom where she was attempting to sleep. He was swinging a machete around and caused her to fear for her safety.”
The female told officers that Blackwell said he was having homicidal thoughts.
“At about 5:00 a.m., she reported that he came back into the bedroom, with what she described as a rubber mallet, stating that he was going to kill her and beat her to death with a hammer,” Welsh said. “Blackwell was taken into custody and transported to the Missoula County Jail.”
Blackwell now faces one count of felony assault with a weapon for causing reasonable apprehension of bodily injury. No physicals injuries occurred as a result of this incident. According to court documents, the female victim stated that she and Blackwell have been together for two years and she is approximately 9 weeks pregnant with his child. Blackwell made two statements to the female that she could remember; “I’m just going to kill you and the baby,” and “I’m going to beat your head in with a hammer.”
