Man Arrested in Missoula Monday Night for Fourth or Subsequent DUI
A 72-year-old Missoula man was taken to jail Monday evening after a traffic stop. Missoula Police Public Information Officer Travis Welsh explains.
“At about 9:20 p.m., an officer initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was operating without a rear license plate in the 2900 block of Brooks Street,” Welsh said. “The officer made contact with Ronald Heinemann and he was subsequently arrested for DUI. The officer later learned that Heinemann had at least three previous offenses, making this arrest the 4th and a potential felony.”
Montana law requires a fourth or subsequent DUI charge to be a felony charge, but Mr. Heinemann ended up with a host of misdemeanor charges too.
“There were other offenses such as operating without a license plate, as I previously mentioned, and he was unable to produce current liability insurance for the vehicle,” Welsh said.
Mr. Heinemann also faces a misdemeanor charge for having an expired registration.
