Lightning Storm Sparks New Fires [AUDIO]
Wednesday evening's lightning storm sparked several wildfires throughout western Montana. Fire Information Officer for the Department of Natural Resources and Conservation Paula Short said Thursday morning that fires were burning from the Florence area all the way to Beavertail Hill.
Short said several local, state and federal agencies were busy fighting these small fires, and that most are only a few acres in size. Fire danger in western Montana was raised to high on Monday, but the Fire Protection Agency may consider raising the danger level to extreme at next Monday's meeting.
In addition, Short said the West Marshall Creek fire burning about 11 miles from Seeley Lake is now 50% contained.
