An active lightning storm passed through the Bitterroot Valley and worked its way north into Missoula Monday evening, July 22. Quite a few thunderstorms have been passing through Western Montana this season. Forest fires, however, have been small and the fire danger on the Bitterroot National Forest is still in the "Moderate" range, but the next level will be "High." There have been 30 lightning caused fires this year so far.
