As his latest hit, ‘Come Over,’ inches its way to the top of the country singles charts, Kenny Chesney is already celebrating the song’s success in another way. The latest release from his ‘Welcome to the Fishbowl’ album has now been certified gold with digital download sales exceeding 500,000. With its new certification, ‘Come Over’ becomes the fastest single of Chesney’s career to reach the mark.

‘”Come Over’ is one of the most emotionally universal songs I’ve ever recorded,” Chesney says of the song that was penned by Shane McAnally, Josh Osborne and Sam Hunt. “When you break up with someone, you don’t break up all at once. You break up over time. And that’s the thread of the song. Letting go is hard.”

This week on the charts, ‘Come Over’ sits at No. 2, waiting to top the charts as early as next week. When it does hit the top, the tune will mark Chesney’s 24th career No. 1 song and his second hit from his current album. The album’s lead single, ‘Feel Like a Rock Star’ (a duet with Tim McGraw), also became a milestone for Chesney when it debuted at No. 13 on the country singles chart — his highest debut yet.

Next weekend, Chesney and McGraw will continue on with their current Brothers of the Sun Tour with stops at the Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind. and also at Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio. Click here for a full list of the trek’s remaining dates.
