Garth Brooks to Be Inducted Into Austin City Limits Hall of Fame

Garth Brooks will receive a major honor this year: He will be inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame during a special 50th anniversary special.

As the iconic music series marks its golden anniversary, the Hall of Fame will also be celebrating its 10th anniversary.

The event will take place at the home of Austin City Limits, the Moody Theater in downtown Austin, Texas, on Sept. 5. Brooks is scheduled to perform as a part of the festivities.

"To be part of anything Austin City Limits is and always has been an honor," Brooks says in a statement. "I am humbled and grateful to not only be a part of the 50th Anniversary, but to be inducted into the ACL Hall of Fame is over the top."

“Garth is a special friend — there’s no one else quite like him,” says ACL executive producer Terry Lickona.

“He never forgets his roots, or the people who were there for him in those early days. He hit the ACL stage just as his career was taking off, kicked off our 25th anniversary season, and now almost 25 years later, it’s our turn to honor him.”

What Is Austin City Limits?

Austin City Limits is a music series showcasing artists and their music in an intimate setting. It debuted on October 17, 1974 and began airing on PBS in 1975. Its 50 years on the air is the longest for any music series.

The Hall of Fame is an extension of the program celebrating the legacy of various artists who have both contributed to and promoted Austin City Limits. Others who are a part of this esteemed group: Willie Nelson, Loretta Lynn, Kris Kristofferson, B.B. King, Ray Charles and more.

Both John Prine and Brooks' wife Trisha Yearwood were inducted in 2023.
