
Major Dollar General Coffee Recall — Could Contain Glass Fragments!
Another day, another recall: This time it's instant coffee that can be purchased at Dollar General.
On August 11, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced a troubling recall of Clover Valley Instant Coffee.
A customer found glass fragments inside!
We aren't talking about ingesting an outdated product or one that has a non-declared allergen, this is glass, which if ingested can cause serious harm, including broken teeth, cuts to the mouth or throat and even internal damage.
Clover Valley Instant Coffee was sold and distributed in Dollar General retail stores between July 9 and July 21, 2025 in the following states:
Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia and Wyoming.

If you are reading this going, 'Hey, wait a minute, I have this coffee in my pantry!' take a close look at the neck of the container and see if it has these numbers on it:
Lot L-5163 (Best By 12/13/2026), Lot L-5164 (Best By 12/13/2026), and Lot L-5165 (Best By 12/14/2026).
The products can also be identified by UPC 876941004069.
Take any unused product back to Dollar General for a refund, or throw it out — don't take a risk, it's not worth it.

It's coffee, but already steeped. Kind of like minute rice — it's coffee that is dehydrated into a powder or granules so it can be made quickly, just by adding hot water.
