Woman Kicks Two MPD Officers in the Face
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On March 1, 2026, at approximately 8:34 p.m., Missoula Police Department Officers were dispatched to the 800 block of West Sussex after a 911 caller reported a disturbance. While responding, dispatch updated officers that a fight may have turned physical. Officers arrived on scene and began speaking with a female, later positively identified as 22-year-old Melorie White Quills.
Officers noted that Melorie appeared to be highly intoxicated, as she was unsteady on her feet, slurring her words, and smelled heavily of consumed alcoholic beverages. Officers asked Melorie to provide her name, and she refused to do so. Melorie then resorted to swearing at officers and not cooperating with any preliminary questions. An officer continued to try to de-escalate the situation by speaking with Melorie, but she remained uncooperative and hostile toward officers.
Melorie continued to use profane language towards officers, and she was subsequently placed under arrest for obstruction. Officers escorted Melorie to a patrol car, where she continued to be uncooperative with their efforts to safely arrest her. Melorie refused to take a seat in the back of a patrol car by thrashing her body and screaming at officers. Melorie was given multiple verbal warnings to seat herself in the back of the patrol vehicle, and after refusing to do so, an officer attempted to control and maneuver her into the back seat by turning her body with both hands placed below her shoulders, applying enough pressure to seat her against the back seat.

Physical Confrontation: Assault on Officers
Once Melorie was seated, the officer attempted to lift Melorie’s legs into the patrol vehicle, at which point she began kicking her legs forcefully at both officers. Melorie then kicked one officer in the face, striking his nose and the left side of his face above the eye. Melorie also kicked the other officer in the face, right under his eye.
Melorie then continued to kick at the police until she was successfully detained, and the patrol car doors could be closed. An officer then transported Melorie to the Missoula County Detention Facility in an expedited way with emergency equipment activated. Melorie, throughout the transport, continued to kick the officer’s back window and door, as well as slipping her left hand out of handcuffs.
