Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On September 20, 2023, at around 8:45 p.m., Missoula County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to a residence in the 600 block of Montana Avenue for a reported burglary. The suspect was described as a male wearing a black wig, black clothing, and painted fingernails. A deputy responded and spoke with the complainant and the homeowner.

The complainant reported that when she arrived home, she found a man “lounging” inside the house. She asked him why he was there, but he only replied with “gibberish.” She said she felt afraid, exited the residence, and returned to her vehicle. The male suspect then left the residence and approached the driver’s side window of the vehicle where she was sitting. The male spoke to her but was difficult to understand. The male left the residence shortly thereafter and she contacted 911. The homeowner surveyed the home and discovered that alcohol and a box of frozen corn dogs were missing.

Meanwhile, another deputy was in the 400 block of Highton Street in East Missoula investigating a reported trespass to vehicle four blocks away from the original complainants’ residence. The deputy spoke with a male and a female. The male reported that he had gone out to his truck and discovered a male suspect inside the vehicle.

The suspect was described as a white male with a black-haired wig, black pants, black shirt, straw hat, and painted fingernails. The suspect had both driver and passenger doors open. The male confronted him and told the female to call 911. The suspect then reached down, grabbed a box of frozen corndogs, and began walking west toward the highway.

About an hour later, dispatch received a call from a homeowner in the 5400 block of Canyon River Road stating that an unknown male was sitting in his hot tub outside the residence. The male was described as having long black hair. This address is approximately one mile away from the other two reported incidents.

Deputies responded to the address and discovered a male with a black wig sitting in the hot tub. The deputies ordered the male out of the hot tub, and he complied. The male identified himself as 34-year-old Jesse Duncan. The deputies located a green bag with black clothing next to the hot tub, which Duncan identified as his. The deputies could see cans of alcohol in the bag and observed that Duncan smelled of alcohol.

After Duncan was remanded into custody, an inventory search revealed one can of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer, one can of Cold Smoke beer, two unmarked glass bottles of beer, one bottle of Kahlua, two bottles of Impari, one bottle of soy sauce, one large green Gerber knife with a black holster, and one white switchblade knife. According to court documents, these items were identified by the original complainants as missing from their home.

While in transport to the Missoula County Detention Facility, Duncan cycled between being calm and angry and periodically kicked the barrier between the vehicle seats. He is currently being charged with felony burglary, criminal trespass to vehicles, and criminal trespass to property.
