Missoula Announces Partners for Southgate Crossing Development
There are still details to be worked out, but Missoula leaders say they've selected a developer and are working on plans for the city-owned "Southgate Crossing" property.
It's a project expected to add more housing to the city's already limited supply of housing.
Mayor Andrea Davis announced this morning that the City of Missoula is working with Miramonte Companies on plans for the site, which lies just southwest of Southgate Mall.
Miramonte is based in Tucson, Arizona, but has developed various projects across the West, including the Missoula Loft Homes project in 2023. Chris Kemmerly, Miramonte's CEO, lives in Missoula.

Selected from Many Proposals
"The vision Mr. Kemmerly has for this site is appealing for many reasons,” Davis said in a statement. “It includes diverse home types affordable to working Missoulians, incorporates commercial uses consistent with the mixed-use neighborhood goals of the 2023 Midtown Master Plan, and creates public park space and pedestrian amenities that foster connectivity and gathering."
"I'm impressed with Miramonte's commitment to move quickly." -Missoula Mayor Andrea Davis.
The city has purchased the property with a goal of "partnering" with a private sector development on a mixed-use project focused on housing. The city had already indicated a deal was close when it announced a new approach to marketing surplus city property earlier this month.
Davis and leaders of the Missoula Economic Partnership are expected to discuss more details during a press conference on Wednesday.
