Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On May 13, 2024, just after 1:00 AM, a Missoula Police Department Officer observed a vehicle driving dangerously on Stephens Avenue. The vehicle made a right turn onto Mount Avenue without signaling and additionally made a very wide turn, crossing the double yellow line entirely. The officer conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. 

Once the vehicle was parked, the driver, an adult female, exited the car immediately and began to walk toward the officer. The officer quickly parked his patrol car, exited, and made contact with the female, instructing her to stand by the front of his patrol vehicle. The female appeared to have a difficult time comprehending what she was being asked.  

The officer introduced himself and informed the female of the reason for the traffic stop. The officer then asked if her driver’s license was in her vehicle, to which the female stated that it was and began to walk back to her car. The officer told the female to remain at his patrol car and asked for her name. The female stated her name was Keri Daniels. 

The officer asked Daniels to remain at the front of his car while he reviewed her information. As the officer began opening the door to his patrol car, he observed Daniels walking back to her vehicle.  

Once again, the officer told Daniels to remain at the front of his patrol vehicle, but she leaned up against the trunk of her car. Again, the officer told Daniels to walk to the front of his patrol car and remain there for the traffic stop. 

Officer Notices Signs of Impairment  

The officer observed Daniels to have red and watery eyes and the officer could smell the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage. Daniels stated she had two glasses of wine at a residence in Bonner.  

After a short conversation, Daniels stated she would not perform the Standardized Field Sobriety Tests. Officer Kozlowski then read the PAST advisory to Daniels and she refused to provide a breath sample. Daniels was placed under arrest and was secured in a patrol car. The officer read Daniels the Implied Consent Advisory. Daniels refused to provide a sample. The officer applied for and was granted a search warrant for Daniels’ blood. The blood draw was conducted at St. Patrick Hospital.

Daniels was transported to the Missoula County Detention Facility. She is currently being charged with felony DUI and her bond was set at $10,000. According to court documents, Daniels has five prior DUI convictions.
