Bullets Fly in Missoula as Police Investigate Downtown Shooting
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Just after 2:00 a.m. on April 5, 2026, Missoula Police Department officers responded to a report of shots fired in the downtown area. Police Public Information Officer Whitney Bennett has the details.
“Within minutes, an adult male arrived at the Missoula Police Department with a gunshot wound and multiple apparent bullet strikes to his vehicle,” Bennett said. “Officers located a scene in the 200 block of Ryman Street where multiple spent shell casings were recovered. Detectives responded to continue the investigation.”
Bennett said patrol officers later located another involved male in the 200 block of Woody Street.

“A vehicle associated with the incident was nearby, and a handgun was recovered as part of the investigation,” Bennett said. “One male was transported to St. Patrick Hospital for treatment. The other male was transported to the Missoula Police Department to be interviewed by detectives.”
Based on information gathered during the investigation, Bennett said shots were fired in a busy downtown area with uninvolved pedestrians in the immediate vicinity, which contributed to the criminal endangerment charges.
“The Missoula County Attorney’s Office was consulted and both 33-year-old Laurent Mugondozi and 36-year-old Anthony Brodie have been charged with Attempted Homicide and Criminal Endangerment,” Bennett said. “Mugondozi was also charged with DUI (3rd offense). This remains an active investigation.”
