Missoula Crime Report: Abuse of Drugs and Alcohol This Week

Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - Every Friday morning at 9:00, the Missoula County Attorney’s Office provides a crime report during Talk Back. They charged 22 new criminal complaints this week, which is six more than last week and above the weekly average. According to County Attorney Kirsten Pabst, the theme this week was the abuse of drugs and alcohol. 

“Thirteen of the new cases involved felony-level use of alcohol and or drugs,” Pabst said. “Most of those involved fentanyl. There were a few polysubstance possessions and then four endangerment cases. Almost all of those were felony DUIs, which is a fourth or subsequent offense.” 

In addition, Pabst said her office charged five violent crimes this week.

“Two of those involved felony-level incidents involving intimate partner violence,” Pabst said. “We charged an assault on a minor involving a daycare situation. We charged one man with threats against officials. The allegation is he threatened to kill several people including detention officers. Then there was a sexual abuse of children case that involved allegations of possessing child pornography.” 

Pabst said there were a handful of other cases as well. 

“In the property crimes category, we charged two burglary cases and at least one of which we believe was drug driven,” Pabst said. “In the administrative category, we charged two new cases which were two fugitives from justice from California and Washington respectively.” 

If you’re planning on recreating this hot summer weekend, Pabst urges you not to drink and drive and not to drink and float. She said there have been several incidents in the past few weeks involving injuries and people being stranded on the river.
