Woman Wants to Go to Jail, Kicks at Missoula Officer’s Genitals
Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - On December 19, 2023, Missoula Police Department officers responded to the Dakota House, a facility run by Western Montana Mental Health Center. An employee reported that 33-year-old Brittany Jessen was belligerent, throwing chairs at employees, and would not leave.
According to court documents, officers had dealt with Jessen several times throughout the day when she was trespassed from the Poverello Center and the Johnson Street shelter in the same day. During these earlier encounters, Jessen was antagonistic towards the police. She is also known to be a violent offender with prior weapon offenses.
When officers arrived, Jessen was again told to leave. Jessen said she was going to break into the facility and “burn this s**t down” if the officer did not take her to jail. Jessen then became verbally confrontational with staff. An officer asked Jessen to sit down in a chair, but she refused. Jessen said, “you’re a f**king cop and you don’t know s**t.”
Jessen then kicked the officer who blocked the kick and felt pain in his pinky finger. Jessen was forced to the ground and was handcuffed, but still resisted arrest. She would not cooperate and said she didn’t “give a f**k” since she has “a million” felonies. She was placed in a restraint device and taken to the Missoula County Detention Facility.
The officer’s pain increased when his adrenaline diminished after the arrest. An employee observed the kick, and it appeared that Jessen was aiming her kick at the officer’s genitals.
On December 20, 2023, an MPD detective interviewed Jessen at the jail after being advised of her rights. When the detective asked her if he could interview her, she stated “Yeah, I kicked him in the f**king nuts. That’s all now get the f**k out.” Jessen confirmed that her intent was to hurt the officer so she would be taken to jail.
Jessen is currently being charged with felony assault with a weapon. On December 21, 2023, at around 8:56 a.m., Jessen was released from the jail.
