Missoula, MT (KGVO-AM News) - For many years, Providence St. Patrick Hospital held an annual health fair where hundreds of people lined up for health screenings and medical seminars, but those events ended due to the COVID pandemic.

Now, Missoula’s Community Medical Center has taken up the opportunity to present its health fair on Saturday, January 21.

Hundreds of People are Expected for Community's First Ever Health Fair

KGVO News spoke to CMC Laboratory Manager Jen Bailey about Saturday’s event.

“We are excited to be welcoming the public back to our campus,” began Bailey. “You know, through the pandemic, we had a lot of restrictions for access and we know there’s a need within the community to provide some access to education and screening, so on Saturday, January 21, we will be hosting a health fair here on campus at our CMC Cancer Center.”

There will be Lab Screenings for Informational Sessions

“We will have lab screenings,” she said. “We'll have a general health screening which is a complete blood count, cholesterol chemistry panel, and thyroid and that's $20; and then you can add on a vitamin D in which there's a lot of interest during the winter in Montana, and that's an additional $20.”

Bailey described some of the informational displays that will also be available at Saturday’s health fair.

They will have Balance and Strength Testing and CPR Education

“We’ll have a lot of stations set up where there will be health care professionals, working through some education and screenings,” she said. “In addition, we'll have some balance and strength testing, blood pressure checks, breast cancer screening options, and education, colon cancer screening a lot of other educational opportunities. We'll have some information related to dermatology, diabetes, and nutrition. We're going to have a training station for hands-only CPR and then we're going to have some information on palliative care, varicose veins treatment, and pelvic floor health.”

Bailey said there will be lots of signage to help visitors find their way.

“We’ll have signs up in the parking lot directing people where to go,” she said. “It's going to be in our Community Cancer Care Center, and it’s going to start at 7:00 a.m. and it will last until 11:00 a.m. It's geared toward the adult population. We're just excited to welcome people back to campus. We will still be very cognizant of COVID transmission in the community, so we'll still be asking people to wear masks within the building, but we'll have those available there at the door and we'll have our staff guiding and directing people as to where to go.”

The health fair is free of charge, except for the blood panel and the vitamin D treatment, which will be $20 each.

Community Medical Center is located at 2827 Forth Missoula Road.
