Court Ordered to Reconsider Release of Anaconda Killer Docs
We may be able to learn more about the circumstances surrounding last summer's mass shooting in Anaconda.
Ever since Michael Paul Brown entered a bar and killed 4-people, setting off a weeklong manhunt, authorities have been blocking efforts for the press to access at least some of the court documents and details of the shooting, as would be a normal part of media coverage.
Judge Jeffrey Dahood had placed the initial filings under seal right after Brown's arrest, and before news organizations could argue their objections.
But now, the State Supreme Court is ordering the lower court to hear those arguments about the release of the public documents. Six media organizations filed the appeal, including the Montana State Broadcasters Association, of which Townsquare Media is a member.

Will Montana voters side with the property tax camp
Lots of attention this week to a new proposal to cap Montana property tax hikes to 2%.
GOP lawmaker Wylie Gault of Martinsdale has come up with an initiative for a Constitutional amendment that would put the lid on not only increasing state taxes, but property taxes from all local government agencies as well. That would include commercial property as well.
Gault was one of the architects of some of the tax reform measures that were passed by the Legislature last year.
Griz fan gives major gift
A major gift for Grizzly Athletics this week.
Montana Athletics has received a $3 million dollar gift from the estate of Gary J. Dunn by his widow, Judy Rigler-Dunn, that will support Grizzly softball, Lady Griz basketball, and Montana football.
Gary Dunn, a Helena native and longtime Griz fan, passed away last March at the age of 74. The ultimate Grizzly fan, Dunn started attending Griz and Lady Griz basketball games in the 70s. He became a proud supporter of Griz football as well, joining a tailgate of good friends that has continued for over 40 years.
He traveled to Missoula from Helena for every football game and didn't miss any of Montana's eight National Championship appearances as a fan.
