Riggin’ Rally in Darby – Mules in Hamilton
The "Yellowstone" Riggin Rally for rodeo fans is this weekend in Darby, Montana. The rodeo is all about cowboys riding bareback on bucking horses. If the horse wins, the cowboy is on the ground, looking up. If the cowboy wins, it's a possibility of some huge prize money. And each competition between man and horse lasts only seconds.
Darby's Richard Cromwell Memorial Rodeo Grounds has the action Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. The Darby Rodeo Association worked with the Steiner Family Rodeo Company and Taylor Sheridan, creator of "Yellowstone," to get the prize money into the thousands of dollars for the lucky riders that outlast the horses.
Saturday, the gates open at 2 p.m. and the "Qualifiers" will start at 4 p.m. There will also be live music. scheduled to play are the groups "406," "Wild Prairie Smoke," and "Western Front." Admission is $25.
Sunday, the admission price goes up to $45 and the gates open at 3 p.m. Calcutta will and draft will start at 3:30 p.m. The Main Event is scheduled for 6 p.m. However, the competition is being streamed on the national "Cowboy Channel" and the start time be adjusted. Montana Mule Days in Hamilton
The 3-day Montana Mule Days will be in Hamilton during the same weekend. The state's largest mule and donkey show will be in the Ravalli County Fairgrounds arena, brought to you by the Montana Longears Association.
This is the 35th annual Mule Days and includes Riding, Single and Team Driving (photo above), Western Pleasure and a Gymkana. There are over 100 classes included, and categories include youth, junior and adult. Don't miss some special Chariot racing, too.
Admission is family-oriented at $5 per person each day. Or, you can get a pass for all three days for $10. If it rains, don't worry, the Ravalli County Fairgrounds grandstands are covered.
