Montana's summer concert season is packed with major festivals and big-name shows, but some of the state's most memorable events happen far from the stadium lights.

Spotlight on Old Salt Festival: A Montana Tradition

We've already talked about festivals like Abyance Bay Marina, Mooshfest, and Red Ants Pants, but another event worth adding to your summer calendar is the Old Salt Festival in Helmville.

Taking place June 19-21 at the Mannix Family Ranch, the three-day festival combines live music, Montana food, ranching culture, outdoor recreation, and camping into a uniquely Montana experience. Organizers describe it as a celebration of land stewardship, community, music, and locally raised food. Camping is available on-site, making it easy to spend the entire weekend immersed in the event.

Exciting Lineup: Music that Moves You

The 2026 lineup includes performances by Marley Hale, Kitchen Dwellers, Saint of Soldiers, Tanner Laws, Zach Ducheneaux, and many others throughout the weekend. Friday's kickoff festivities feature several of those artists, while Saturday's schedule includes performances from Rob Quist, Halladay Quist, North Fork Crossing, and Summer Dean.

More Than Music: Culinary Delights and Educational Engagement

What makes Old Salt stand out is that it's more than just a music festival. Attendees can enjoy chef-driven food experiences, educational talks, demonstrations, artisan vendors, and a chance to experience Montana ranch life in the scenic Blackfoot Valley.

If you're looking for something a little different from the larger festival scene this summer, Old Salt offers a weekend built around great music, great food, and the kind of Montana community atmosphere that's hard to find anywhere else. With wide-open spaces, camping under the stars, and limited cell service, it might be exactly the unplugged getaway many Montanans are looking for.
