Perfect Weather Greets 2026 Griz Dip Polar Plunge in Missoula
The weather for Missoula's 2026 Griz Dip Polar Plunge couldn’t have been any better. The sun was shining, and the temperature was around 40 degrees at the time of the jump. For some people, that temperature may seem cold, but for the athletes who have taken the plunge in the past, it wasn’t too bad.

Montana’s first Polar Plunge took place in Whitefish in 1999. A few brave souls waded into a lake to help raise funds for the Special Olympics. Since Missoula doesn’t have a lake for athletes to jump into, event organizers have had to improvise with a portable pool that the Missoula Fire Department fills. Polar Plunges aren’t the only way to help support these athletes. The Special Olympics can always use volunteers, coaches, and chaperones for events and competitions.
The State Games will be held in Billings this year before moving to Missoula in 2027, where they will remain for three years. Please help if you can.
