In light of the continued business closings we see in the Missoula area, it's welcome news when we hear of a business opening or one that's expanding.

The Missoulian reported that a downtown Missoula business received a permit for a new business inside Southgate Mall. The especially interesting detail was that this business will be going inside the former Caffe Dolce location. We reached out to the owners to get more details.

Mary's Mountain Cookies Is Getting a Second Location in Missoula

We are so excited to hear about another dessert store opening in Southgate Mall. Kara McCracken, Owner and Operator at Mary's Mountain Cookies confirmed via email that yes, they will be opening a second location. "We love our downtown location, and are excited to be able to serve the community with a second store in a more central location."

These cookies might be close to the biggest ones you'll find in Missoula. People also like how many flavors are available, both the traditional flavors and the more creative ones. For example, you can order one of their popular flavors:

  • Snickerdoodle
  • Monster
  • Toasted S'mores Cookie

Or their famous 1/4 lb cookies:

  • Chocolate Chip
  • Cupcake
  • Almond Glazed
  • Huckleberry Lemonade

Or their 2oz cookies:

  • Creme Brulee
  • Lemon Drop
  • Sour Patch

Or one of their Avalanches, which is a cookie cut in half with frosting in the middle.

Right now, McCracken says they don't have an opening date, but they hope to know more at the beginning of September. Here's the especially good news: you can still get Mary's Mountain Cookies while they're working on the new location. McCracken says, "Our downtown location will continue to operate as normal while we are working to get the second location up and running."
