When the seasons change in Montana it is time to help out the people that need it. One way to help people is to donate blood. The American Red Cross is putting on the annual "Give A Pint" blood drive and they could use your help.

Blood Need is High in the Summer

When summer comes the need for blood donations increases in Montana. There are less opportunities for blood drives across the college and university campuses. There is also an increase in need for blood with people traveling and recreating.

"Give A Pint" Blood Drive

I recently spoke with Keeley Van Middendorp, communications and media relations from the American Red Cross in Montana, Idaho and Eastern Oregon, about the upcoming event in Missoula.

We are on our third year of "Give A Pint" and we are going to be at the DoubleTree Hotel in Missoula on May 6, from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. So we'd love to see you guys there.

Make Your Appointment Now

They are taking appointments now for the event. One of the best and easiest ways to become a donor is to use the American Red Cross app. It helps you keep track of appointments and it keeps your information up to date. Keeley also pointed out another benefit of the app.

What's great about the app is that it follows up after your donation. You actually get to see where the blood you donated goes, and that's wonderful follow-up too. It's a good feeling to know that you're you're helping others, not just here in Montana and Idaho, but across the nation.

Some Tasty Incentives

For those that donate at this event, there are a couple of pretty sweet incentives. You can get a certificate for an ice cream cone from Big Dipper Ice Cream and a drink of your choice from Finn Restaurant. Keeley would also like to thank the sponsors for making this event possible, Townsquare Media, The DoubleTree, Finn Restaurant, Big Dipper Ice Cream and the Missoula Chamber. Please help if you can.
