Griz, Lady Griz Headed To The Postseason
Neither team wanted to miss the NCAA Tournament, but alas it happened. Congrats to Eastern Washington Women's Basketball and as much as it pains me to say it congrats to that team in Bozeman on the men's side.
By the way, the Cats are a 16-seed playing in the First Four in Dayton this Wednesday (March 20) against the Grambling State Tigers out of the SWAC.
Now that we got past our grieving stages, the good news is both the Montana Grizzlies (Men) and the Montana Lady Griz will get a chance to extend their season by at least a game.
Grizzlies take on Daytona
err, 15-team since they whiffed on a 16th team)Lady Griz got some home cookin'
After being bounced in the Big Sky Conference Tournament by NAU, the Lady Griz get another crack at postseason play in the WNIT against a Mountain West Conference foe this Wednesday, March 18 at 7pm. The Lady Griz will welcome in the one-time Big Sky foe Boise State Broncos (21-13). The Broncos came up shy in the Mountain West Conference semifinals against San Diego State.
There's been a lot of talk about the NIT and CBI tournaments this offseason. The NCAA is re-ranking which tournament means more and it's created a lot of discussion about what it means to play in one of the secondary tournaments. Former Indiana Hoosiers Head Coach Tom Crean was fired up about it in a recent rant saying teams are soft for opting out.
Not us. Not the Griz. We are not soft.
Go Griz.
