UPDATE: (4/14/24)

Well... here we thought this story was over. It was reported late last week that former Griz Quarterback Clifton McDowell visited and signed with Prairie View A&M. Since then, it was clarified by Hero Sports' Sam Herder that the original article was updated to with no mention of a signing.

Now, McDowell himself took any question out of the equation and announced via Instagram where he is heading next: McNeese State.

McNeese State is located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The Cowboys play in the Southland Conference against teams like Incarnate Word, Lamar and Nicholls State.

After months of back and forth, and "where's he going" comments we now know where former Griz Quarterback Clifton McDowell will play next season.

A sports reporter in the Houston area named Terrance Harris first broke the story that McDowell was at Prairie View A&M visiting yesterday afternoon. It was later confirmed by si.com's Kyle Mosley that McDowell officially signed on to be a Panther next year.

This will technically be McDowell's 6th school. The Texas native has played at Kilgore College, the University of Louisiana, Central Arkansas and the University of Montana. He never played a game at Temple, but signed at Temple earlier this year before reentering the transfer portal after just a couple of months. Just a week ago McDowell sent a cryptic tweet to the masses sparking debate on whether or not he was retracing his steps back to Missoula.
