If you're looking to celebrate Halloween a little different this year, well you can ditch the trick-or-treating or the old tired haunted house. This year you should get out to Travelers Rest for some frightful fun.

First, let's talk about Travelers Rest. Did you know it's the only archeologist-verified campsite of Lewis and Clark? That's right, you can walk, camp, and explore the same exact area they did!

Now, while this area is incredible all year round, this year they have decided to make Halloween a hot spot for a family-friendly celebration with their "Corpse Of Discovery" party with activities that are fun for all ages. Some of the events and goodies lined up are:

  • Pumpkin Bowling
  • Creatures of The Night
  • Witches Ring Toss
  • Raffles
  • Arts and Crafts
  • Music
  • Hot Apple Cider

This bone-chilling fright night "Corpse of Discovery" will take place on October, 28th from 1 pm - 4 pm. The entry fee is $5, but you could also donate a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food bank. The first 150 children that arrive will also receive a free goody bag.

Travelers rest is just off the road from Highway 93 in Lolo. It's a pretty convenient drive. This sounds like a perfect event for the kiddos. Now, this is Western Montana and even though while I'm writing this it's sunny and in the 70's be prepared for the colder weather or even snow since this will mainly be an outdoor event. You know the drill. Put on the snow pants and gloves and then your costume. One year for Halloween I just went as the Michelin Man because it was so cold, but you know kids will do just about anything for candy.
