Ubisoft is bringing its Far Cry franchise off the console and onto the small screen. A new TV series is in development, reportedly with FX and writer Noah Hawley attached. That’s a heavyweight lineup for a video game adaptation, and fans are asking the big question: which Far Cry story will make it to the screen first?

Far Cry 5’s Montana Connection

Here in Montana, we’re pulling for Far Cry 5. The 2018 blockbuster was set in the fictional Hope County, a wild mix of mountains, rivers, and cult chaos that felt uncomfortably close to our own backyard. The game’s villain, Joseph Seed, became an instant icon, and the doomsday cult storyline in Big Sky Country made it one of the franchise’s most memorable entries. If the show wants drama and a distinctly American setting, Hope County is hard to beat.

What Fans Could Expect

I have always been a fan of Far Cry. The Far Cry series has always delivered cinematic flair. Each game drops players into a new world with larger-than-life bad guys and crazy landscapes. On TV, that could mean an anthology where each season tackles a different game, or a deep dive into one fan-favorite storyline. And if Montana’s cult saga doesn’t headline, maybe we’ll still see nods through landscapes, Easter eggs, or side characters.

Looking Ahead to Far Cry 7

Ubisoft is also quietly working on Far Cry 7. No details yet, but the idea of a new game launching alongside a TV series has fans buzzing. Whether it’s Hope County on screen or another far-flung setting, Far Cry is about to get even bigger.
