First, the incident report: one Skittle and a foil-wrapped piece of chocolate rolled onto the court.

In other words, our congratulations to all the educators who did a magnificent job keeping their kiddos well-behaved during the first-ever University of Montana Lady Griz School Day game this afternoon at the Adams Center on the UM campus.

Grade school students were bused to the game from Missoula and many other communities to enjoy a free game, and packed the place to the tune of 7,018 fans. The kids never stopped screaming loud (just ask my ears - no wait, they can't hear anything yet) and seemed to be having a wonderful time. It's hard to tell from the distance, but that's my co-worker, Billy Jenkins, in the white t-shirt under the basket, doing a fabulous job working the crowd during timeout events and promotions.

Unfortunately, our Lady Griz played a very talented Seattle University team, and went toe to toe for three quarters. Montana actually went ahead 53-51 to start the fourth quarter but faded after that to fall 78-64.

Our thanks to Lady Griz head coach Shannon Schweyen for spearheading the School Day game. We hope all the youngsters had a terrific time, and hopefully we get to see you at the second annual even next season!
