Four years? Wow! Your gotta admire these gals' grit, determination and dedication to their sport.

Hellgate Roller Derby will be kicking off their first home season since 2019 this Sunday, June 18, with a number of events scheduled, including some freebies. It all happens at the Missoula Fairgrounds 4-H Pavilion.

In partnership with Missoula Pride and the Western Montana Community Center, the day's activities include the Hellions Junior Roller Derby Mixer starting at 11:00 a.m. The Pride Roller Disco (where is my 1970s satin baseball jacket?) starts at 2:00 p.m., with music by Mark Myriad and Anna Morgan. This is a free event, but donations to the Western Montana Community Center would be greatly appreciated.

If you don't have your own skates, no problem. Skates will be available for rent provided by Hellgate Roller Derby.

At 5:00 p.m., the Hellgate Roller Derby team will go up against a team of regional skaters. There is a $10 admission, which gets you into both derby bouts.

The following release is from the Hellgate Roller Derby website:

"Hellgate Roller Derby is so excited to kick off our 2023 season in partnership with Missoula Pride and the Western Montana Community Center...This is our first home season since 2019 - you won't want to miss this!"

There will also be local food and drink vendors and other groups like Skin Tight Face Paint and Girls on Shred. You can check out the Hellgate Roller Derby website and Facebook page for more info.
