Heads Up Driver Of The Day

Okay, first, this is NOT a condemnation of kids who ride skateboards. Coulda been a kid on a bike or just walking or whatever, but thank God for the alert driver I saw this morning...  I'm northbound on Kemp, approaching 14th to make a right turn. I'm also working daywatch out of burglary with my partner Gannon, but that's another story. Approaching southbound on Kemp is a kid riding his board, and he's not really on the shoulder but not really in the lane either. An SUV is coming up on him, but taking it real slow, not passing just to make sure. And just like that the kid swerves his board right into the center of the driving lane. I think the slamming of the SUV's brakes or maybe a horn honk got his attention. But I was just real impressed with how the driver played it to avoid something really bad happening. So props to you, whoever you are.
