I was reading about some dinosaur bones that were discovered back in 2006 but are just now being studied. So I'm half way through this National Geographic article about these two "Dueling Dinosaurs" when it turns out that the fossil the bones are preserved in was found in Montana! Check this out.

Being from Montana, you've likely visited the Museum of the Rockies in Bozeman and have seen all of the amazing exhibits and paleontological collections. But this is something really rare and quite spectacular. It's a T-Rex and a triceratops found in tact and intertwined, all the bones are there, just as they would be in real dinosaur life. They were discovered by a crew of fossil hunters on a private ranch in Garfield County, in Eastern Montana. Lawsuits had the fossil locked away for the past 14 years but now a North Carolina museum has purchased it.

According to associates of the non-profit museum, the "Dueling Dinosaurs" will be studied "thousand of times" and go on display in 2022. Which is fantastic news for fans of paleontology and dinosaurs because there was a lot of legalities and politics on the road to getting this magnificent and unique fossil to a proper home rather than a storage unit.

Scientists are excited to study the bones for a variety of reasons, including whether or not the two dinosaurs were really in a fierce battle to the death. They've even gained permission to visit the original space in Montana where the fossil was discovered. We're looking forward for more news about their findings! Meanwhile, if you ever find yourself in Raleigh, North Carolina in 2023 and beyond, be sure to look up the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences. See a photo of the bones here.
