Hamilton Mayor Dives Deep for Fireworks Funds
Hamilton Mayor Dominic Farrenkopf took a bath Saturday - several times. Dominic promised earlier this year to get into a dunk tank to raise money for this year's community Fireworks Display at the Ravalli County Fairgrounds. Well, the goal was reached last week, before the scheduled tank event Saturday June 30. But the U.S. Coast Guard veteran said that he'd still be a dunk tank victim at Hamilton's Farmers Market, and raise money for NEXT year's fireworks display.
The accuracy was spotty, but the dunks were numerous, thanks to some extra effort from Farrenkopf's wife Hanna, who provided an occasional "helping hand" to set off the dunk mechanism. Dominic himself knew many of the those "pitchers" throwing balls and taunted them, with insults right out of the Ron Rickles playbook. After a while you could hear the cheers a block away as Farrenkopf repeatedly entered the water. And, yes, the money is going into the Hamilton City account for next year's fireworks. This year's event will be at dusk (from 9:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.) Wednesday night.
