Griz Greeley Good, Crush Northern Colorado
What a difference a week makes. Today's Montana Grizzlies looked nothing like the Griz of one week ago.
After battling frustrating injuries for over a month, Montana welcomed back their starting quarterback, two talented running backs and nearly the entire starting defense. They didn't disappoint, as the Grizzlies completely dominated Northern Colorado, 35-0, in Big Sky Conference football action in Greeley, Colorado.
Senior quarterback Cam Humphrey threw three touchdown passes and totaled 233 passing yards on 19 of 25 passes. He also had a dazzling run for a touchdown and a total of 35 yards running. With Montana so far ahead, he was able to take the entire fourth quarter off.
On the other side of the ball, the Montana defense completely stymied Northern Colorado, forcing punt after punt and recovering a fumble that led to a second touchdown pass of the game for Griz senior receiver Sammy Akem. And cornerback Justin Ford intercepted a pass for the seventh consecutive game.
Running backs Isaiah Childs and Xavier Harris returned to the lineup and both contributed, including a touchdown run for Childs. Our broadcast coverage gets underway at 11:00 a.m. with the pregame show, and kickoff at 1:00
The Griz improve to 7-2 on the season, and with some Top 10 teams losing today, could tip-toe up the FCS weekly rankings a little bit this week, as they get ready for another road game at Northern Arizona next Saturday, November 13. Our broadcast coverage gets underway at 11:00 a.m. with the pregame show, and kickoff at 1:00 followed by the expanded postgame show. We hope you can huddle up and join us on the radio voice of Grizzly football, KGVO.
