Glacier National Park Closing Things Up Expecting Early Snowstorms
It's that time of year when, to no one's huge surprise, Glacier National Park starts to downsize ahead of the winter months.
But in anticipation of the weekend's early fall snowstorm, roads and campgrounds have been closed or will be by the end of the weekend.
With major storms anticipated starting today (Friday), the Many Glacier campground closed yesterday. Two Medicine will close today. The St. Mary campground will stay open, but camping is not advised.
The Going-to-the-Sun Road from Jackson Glacier Overlook to Logan Pass has closed. The road on the west side was previously closed from Avalanche Creek to Logan Pass for road work.
Forecasts of one to two feet of snow with high winds and blizzard-like conditions in the park this weekend prompted some earlier-than-usual closures, and more roads could be closing as snow develops.
We hope we haven't bummed out too many of you fall Glacier Park fans.
