The Ravalli county American Cancer Society Relay for Life was themed "Re-Lei For Life" with Hawaiian type activities Saturday, June 8, from 4 p.m. to midnight. The teams walked laps inside the Ravalli County Fairgrounds First Interstate Event Center, because of strong winds outside. The annual event paid off with over $14,000 raised from pledges and a silent auction. The Hawaiian activities included hula lessons (see photo above), a hula lap, a limbo contest and lots of Hawaiian shirts and leis.

Special appearances by the Cybernet 1 dinosaurs (see photo below), Smokey the Bear, Ollie the Osprey from the Missoula baseball team and UM Grizzly mascot Monte added excitement. On the other end of spectrum, soft music and dimmed lights accompanied the 10 p.m. Luminary laps, where luminaries lined the course and names of those who have been touched by cancer were read over the public address speakers.
