Famous Movie Star Donates Special Gift to Montana Event

A well-known actor who has starred in many western films has donated an iconic cowboy hat worn in one of his movies to a fundraising event in Montana.

Sam Elliot has been in a ton of movies. He is one of the most iconic western film stars of our generation. Most recently, Elliot starred alongside Tim McGraw in 1883. Some of Elliot's most popular movies include The Big Lebowski, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, and Tombstone.

On May 28, at the Hell's A-Roarin' Horse Drive in Gardiner, Montana, you'll have a chance to bid on a cowboy hat that Sam Elliot wore in the movie Conagher. Sam Elliot and his wife, Katherine Ross donated the hat to the horse drive, and the hat will be sold to the highest bidder at the event.

Conagher is a famous western film based on a novel by Louis L'Amour.

The Hell's A-Roarin' Horse Drive will auction off the hat and other items to raise funds to purchase motorized track chairs for Montana veterans and first responders. Proceeds raised from auction items have helped purchase three per year in the past four years. The cost of each chair is $15,000.

The horse drive will begin at the Gardiner rodeo grounds at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 28 in Gardiner, Montana. Spectators can watch as cowboys and cowgirls drive a large herd of horses through town en route to the rodeo grounds in Jardine, a small rustic mining town near the north entrance of Yellowstone National Park. It's free to watch the horse drive.

Once the horses reach Jardine, there will be a BBQ at 5:00 p.m. with a no-host bar and an auction will follow. Tickets are $25 at the gate. For more information, click here.
