Any Montana hunters who have dreamed of the opportunity to hunt a Shiras moose will get their chance on March 2.

The Helena chapter of Ducks Unlimited will be auctioning off the only Shiras moose permit offered via auction for use in the 2018 hunting season. The winner can hunt in any of the moose districts in the state, with or without a guide. Helena Ducks Unlimited were granted the license by Montana Fish, Wildlife and Parks.

Auction proceeds go towards Montana FWP moose research and habitat conservation in Montana. Bids will be taken in person at the banquet and over the phone. As you might imagine, it doesn't go cheap. Last year's winning bid was $30,000.

There are details on registering and more info at the Montana Ducks Unlimited website.
