Fond lifetime memories are made during adventures like these. C'mon, kids, let's see what ya got to tell us for 2024.

Since Montana is a state that loves its hunting traditions, the Office of the Governor tells us that they plan to celebrate that once again this year with a contest just for young hunters. And story-telling winners will get some pretty cool stuff and a visit to the state capitol.

Governor Greg Gianforte started the Youth Hunting Story Contest in 2022, giving Montana’s youth (ages 10-17) a chance to share their hunting adventures and compete for awesome prizes. Again this year, the governor will select 10 winners from all over the state, highlighting the incredible experiences Montana youngsters have in the great outdoors.

Maybe with a little encouragement from you, there is a great youth story worth sharing. It’s easy to enter! Youngsters submit a 500-word story and a photo from a 2024 hunt. Eligible entries include the harvest of any legal game, be it furbearing animals or birds, in Montana. The young story-teller must be a Montana resident and a licensed hunter or apprentice hunter between the ages of 10 and 17.

DON'T WAIT TOO LONG

The deadline to submit your entry is Monday, December 2, 2024. The Governor will select ten winners—five in the 10-13 age group and five in the 14-17 group—and winners will be invited to the state Capitol in Helena in January to celebrate with the Governor and receive some exciting prizes.

From gear partners like Sitka, Kenetrek Boots, and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, to taxidermy services by J2, this contest offers some incredible prizes!

So, get going on that essay, and most of all have fun sharing your story.

Good luck and here's hoping the governor's office is flooded with entries!
