Another Montana Grizzly Grabs Football Player of the Week Honor
There were some big numbers put up by several Big Sky Conference football players this past Saturday.
So to be deservedly recognized out of that pack makes the honor even more impressive for University of Montana Griz quarterback Dalton Sneed, who on Monday was named Root Sports Big Sky Conference offensive player of the week for his multidimensional performance in Montana's 41-34 win over Sacramento State.
Dalton became the first Griz quarterback to run for over 200 yards (206) in a single game. And that number is the 8th best overall in school history. He also ran for three touchdowns and passed for one more in racking up 440 yards of total offense. Sneed leads the Big Sky in average total offense at 340 yards per game, which is third nationally in the FCS. On Sunday Dalton was also named honorable mention National FCS Player of the Week by College Sports Performance Awards.
A great performance and a great win over a very good Sacramento State team. The California Crusade continues for Montana with their second of three consecutive games against the California Big Sky Conference schools. The Griz are at Cal Poly this coming Saturday, September 29. Scott Gurnsey and I will be on the air at 3:00 p.m. with the Statewide Tailgate Pregame Show on KGVO, 98.3 FM/1290 AM and in Hamilton on 1240 KLYQ. Kickoff at 5:00. Go Griz!
