Southgate Mall might be closed due to concerns of the coronavirus but the doors will be open for those that want to give blood.  The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive at the Clock Court in the mall on April 8th from 9 AM to 3 PM.

Some might feel uneasy about giving blood with the current pandemic that we've been facing as a country and community. The Red Cross emphasizes the fact that donating blood is a safe process and steps are taken to ensure safety.

Here's all the info provided from the Facebook event page:

-Located at Clock Court

-While Southgate Mall is currently closed, doors will be open at the entrance near Red Robin

The American Red Cross is facing a severe blood shortage as the coronavirus outbreak threatens the availability of the nation’s blood supply. Healthy individuals are urged to help restock the shelves for patients who need surgery, victims of car accidents and other
emergencies, or patients suffering from cancer. Please make an appointment: rcblood.org/appt or join us at the event.

We understand public health concerns, but want to stress that donating blood is a safe process and Red Cross blood drives have the highest safety standards. Here are just a few of our vigilant measures to protect the health of all involved in our blood drives.

- Using Sterile Collection Sets
- Spacing Beds 6 Feet Apart Where Possible
- Having Hand Sanitizer Available
- Using Aseptic Scrubs on Arms
- Donor and Staff Temperature Checks Before Entering Drives
- Wiping Down Donor-Touched Areas
