Alaska Airlines will now offer a new daily non-stop service from Missoula International Airport to Los Angeles International Airport. Airport Director Cris Jensen says service will begin on March 19, 2020 and is available for customers to book right now.

“I think it is the fourth largest market that we have that didn’t have daily service,” Jensen said. “Our passengers have already been finding ways to get to LA whether it was going through Salt Lake City or Seattle on a one stop. A non-stop really makes sense. A large segment of our population likes to go to LA for tourism reasons. A lot of business activity happens in California. It really makes sense for a lot of different reasons.”

According to Jensen, there is a possibility that the airport will offer additional direct flights to cities like San Francisco and Oakland.

“We are talking to the airlines all of the time,” Jensen said. “In fact, we have meetings with nine different airlines here in about two weeks. We are always talking about the next opportunity. Those cities are on our list and we will be talking to all the different airlines about the possibility of new service to those cities and others as well.”

Allegiant Airlines has been offering non-stop flights to a handful of cities in California for a while now, but those are only available two days a week. Jensen says travelers won’t have to build their schedule around the airline’s schedule. On a side note, Jensen says the construction project at the airport is well on its way.

“We are actually paving today,” Jensen said. “The foundation footings have been poured and we are working on foundation walls. Everything is on schedule right now and we are on budget. It is all good news. We still have a long way to go, but so far so good.”

Jensen is still hopeful that all construction will be finished by Fall 2021.
