On a day when the normally unflappable Jordan Johnson threw three interceptions, Montana's defense and special teams came through with yet another heart-pounding win on the road, beating the University of South Dakota 31-27.

This is definitely a weekend when Griz fans really put it on, it’s Homecoming.

Even the most devoted of us Montana Grizzly fans will struggle to put a positive spin on this game.

It was a game that featured many players who probably won't get lots of playing time the rest of the season.

After busing over 1,200 miles all the way to Missoula for a big payday, the Division II Oklahoma Panhandle State Aggies won a little respect from Montana Grizzly football fans by scoring 14 points against a team ranked in the FCS top 10.

It was no contest. The Big Sky Conference has named University of Montana quarterback Jordan Johnson the ROOT Sports offensive player of the week for his performance on Saturday night, September 14, against the University of North Dakota.

What a dominant performance and a great night to be a Griz!

Excitement is high for this University of Montana football season, especially when the very first game is against one of the most successful programs in the country, Appalachian State, on Saturday, August 31.

Newstalk Radio KGVO 1290 AM and 101.5 FM will again be the flagship stations for the Montana Grizzlies this football season, and the long-time play-by-play team of Mick Holien and Scott Gurnsey will be behind the microphone again.
