Excitement is high for this University of Montana football season, especially when the very first game is against one of the most successful programs in the country, Appalachian State, on Saturday, August 31.

Assistant Athletic Director for Media Relations at the University of Montana Brynn Molloy said on Monday, August 26, that the program plans to pull out all the stops and start the season with a bang.

"We are shooting for the biggest 'maroon-out' we've ever had," Molloy said. "When we went to Boone, North Carolina last year, the Appalachian State fans treated us great. However, we want to let them know we have some pretty special fans here, as well, so we're going to treat them to a sea of maroon."

The tickets for this game have been sold out for weeks, but Molloy said there may be some student tickets available later in the week.

"Students have until Wednesday to pick up their tickets, but it is a madhouse in here right now with students and other people picking up their tickets," Molloy said. "There are phone calls with people asking for tickets, and for the general public, yes, we are sold out right now. However, stay tuned, because if we have any tickets available, they'll be released on Thursday."

Not to let any secret information out, but Molloy said it would be wise to get to Washington Grizzly Stadium early and get in your seats, as there will be some special surprises for the fans before and during the game.

"We're coming up with some new music, as well as the old favorites fans love," Molloy said. "The idea is that when the fans aren't standing and cheering, we want them standing and singing. Remember, it's a night game, so people should have all day to get marooned out, and ready."

Kickoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. on Saturday, August 31.
