Big Paddle! Try Equipment For Free Saturday at Frenchtown Pond
Looking for some fun, quality family time on the water to get the Father's Day weekend started? For a price that can't be beat?
All ages are invited to test out an excellent variety of paddle equipment this Saturday, June 18, at Frenchtown Pond State Park, just 15 miles west of Missoula. The Big Paddle event gets underway at 10:00 a.m. and runs until 3:00 p.m.
All levels of experience are welcome to test out new demo equipment provided by The Trail Head. Trail Head team members will be on hand, offering instruction and advice on what might be the right paddle equipment for you. If you've been curious about standup paddleboards, canoes and kayaks, but just haven't taken the plunge yet, this could be the perfect event for you. And even if it's not the right time to invest in new equipment, hey, at least you got to spend some time on the water at no cost.
In addition to being able to try out equipment, educational booths are scheduled to be set up, with information paddle sports and what to expect when you are out on a Montana lake or rivers. Some interesting and informative talks are scheduled throughout the day as well.
Speaking of Father's Day, it is a free fishing weekend in Montana. No fishing licenses are required this Saturday or Sunday for any anglers. Maybe multitask. Toss some fishing gear in the vehicle and try to hook a feisty bass or trout while you're at Frenchtown Pond for the Big Paddle!
Oh, and just one quick reminder. Frenchtown Pond State Park does not allow dogs. So as much as we're sure they'd love to hit the water, too, please leave your furry friends at home for this event.
